‘They look tired’: Arsenal legend makes ‘serious’ claim about Liverpool

Ian Wright has been speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show and has now made a very worrying claim about Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have fallen to successive defeats in the Premier League over the past week, after they had seemingly turned a corner.

Liverpool had beaten Manchester City and West Ham United in back to back games but then lost to bottom of the table Nottingham Forest.

And after the 2-1 defeat to Leeds on the weekend, Wright feels Klopp’s men are just a yard off the pace at the moment.

Wright make worrying Liverpool claim

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, the Arsenal legend feels Liverpool look fatigued at the moment.

“When you look at them now they look a yard short of everybody. In all departments they look like they are tired,” he said.

“They can’t get around people, or close enough to people. At the same time they are still creating chances but they are there to be got at.

“It’s got to be a collective thing – you can’t legislate for mistakes like Joe Gomez made. He didn’t even look. That doesn’t help.

“But when you have a collective that everything is bad then it’s systemic. Something is wrong throughout. They look tired.”

Liverpool were completely outworked by Jesse Marsch’s side on Saturday and despite creating chances to win the game, they went on to concede a late goal.

Klopp’s men are no longer pressing with the same intensity they are renowned for and they have been outworked by opponents this season.

The Champions League has offered some respite for the Reds in recent weeks and they have already qualified for the last-16.

Liverpool face Napoli tonight at Anfield tonight and will then travel to London for a huge clash against Tottenham on Sunday.

Klopp will be hoping his side can pick up some positive results before the World Cup gets underway this month.

Liverpool looking to add Bayern Munich target to their midfield in January

Liverpool’s midfield has been heavily criticised this season but the Merseyside club are now working to sign a central midfielder in the winter transfer window.

The Reds’ midfield line has ageing stars, has too many players out of form and some are very injury prone.

To address this, Jurgen Klopp will try to bring in RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer who is one of the names on the club’s target list, reports Sky Germany.

The 25-year-old’s contract expires in 2023 with the German club and Sky Germany states that he will not extend his deal and is interested in a move to the Premier League.

Sky Germany also reports, that in addition to this, Liverpool have plans for significant investment in next year’s summer transfer window as they look to rebuild the current squad.

The Austrian star is also a target for Bayern Munich, according to the report, who have been targeting the 25-year-old since Julian Nagelsmann joined the Bavarian club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern had a deal in place on the player’s side in July but it collapsed as there was no agreement with RB Leipzig.

Bayern will provide very tough competition to Liverpool for Laimer but the Reds are looking to get a jump on the German club by moving in January.
