Who Should Replace Bruno Fernandes For Manchester United Against Aston Villa

Manchester United travel to Villa Park next weekend but will be without Bruno Fernandes due to suspension.
Manchester United will be missing a key player in their next Premier League fixture. Bruno Fernandes picked up a yellow card against West Ham on Sunday which will now see him miss the trip to Aston Villa next weekend.

Fernandes has been a key player for United this season despite the amount of criticism he has received from some fans. The midfielder has been an instrumental part to United’s improved form this season.

Erik Ten Hag will have to change his midfield around ahead of that game. Having to replace Fernandes in that system could see a number of changes in the line up.

Ten Hag truly has two options in that set up, whether to move Christian Eriksen into the more natural 10 position or lineup with a flat midfield 3. If Eriksen does move into the 10, Scott McTominay or Fred would move into the holding role.

Should Ten Hag look to other players for an option then Donny Van De Beek could feature in his more favoured forward role in midfield. The Dutchman needs to get some game time ahead of the January window.

The boss has many options he could look towards for the game against Villa, their first under new manager Unai Emery. Ten Hag will have to get it right to ensure his side continue their strong run of form.

Report: Cristiano Ronaldo Is Being Considered To Replace Harry Maguire As The New Manchester United Captain

According to a report, Ralf Rangnick has held talks with Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire about the captaincy.

The article from The Mirror says that the German boss considers switching the captaincy to “Take the pressure” off the captain,  following his struggles this season.

Maguire however, is said to be reluctant to give up the captaincy through fear of losing it for good – feeling undermined by the Portuguese superstar due to his influence in the dressing room.

It even suggests that the Englishmen thinks some of the players are losing respect for him.

Despite Maguire’s reluctancy there is said to be a “Growing belief” at Old Trafford that the 37 year old will be captain before the end of the season.

Allegedly, a source from the club said this: “Originally, Ronaldo was asking players to back Harry. But the problem is the manager now wants Ronaldo to mentor all these younger players.”

“That’s left Harry in no man’s land, as he’s the captain and having to say and follow whatever Ronaldo says, to keep everything sweet.”

Report: Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus Show Interest In Highly Rated Roma Star

Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus are all showing interest in one of Roma’s highly regarded talents, according to a report.

With United having not made any new additions to their squad in the January transfer window, the Summer window will be key to improvement for the ‘Red Devils’.

According to a report by the Daily Mail,United are one of three clubs interested in Roma’s Nicolò Zaniolo.

The 22 year old winger, formerly of Inter Millan joined Roma for a small fee of just £4million in the Summer of 2018. The Italian international was included in a swap deal with Radja Nainggolan at the time.

The young starlet has been impressing in the Serie A, scoring 12 goals in 73 appearances in the Italian top flight. Zaniolo has also featured seven times in both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

Despite primarily playing as a right winger in recent times, Zaniolo has played the majority of his games as an attacking midfielder, scoring a total of 28 goals and registering 10 assists.

The Italian international suffered a season ending knee injury at the tail end of last season which ruled him out of Italy’s UEFA Euro 2020 winning campaign.

The winger’s current contract at Roma expires in the summer of 2024 with reports suggesting that his ‘contract renewal is still blocked’. The 22 year old is said to be admired highly by manager Jose Mourinho.

Despite Mourinho being an admirer of Zaniolo, Roma chief Tiago Pinto has not guaranteed that the Italian will stay.

‘I cannot hide that I am surprised by all this noise around Zaniolo, we are in an era where Lionel Messi left Barcelona.

‘No director can say that a player will not be sold. Zaniolo is one of the main players of Roma, he has a contract until 2024, it’s time to talk about the team.’
